Wilson County Teacher of the Year Award Dinner

The eighth annual Wilson County Teacher of the Year Award Dinner is set for April 7 as top educators from across the county are honored for their service to the community and their profession.

Wilson County Automotive and CedarStone Bank along with area County Chambers of Commerce team up each year to recognize one of the most valuable profession in our community – our teachers.

Each year every county school selects its “teacher of the year.” Those individual winners from each county school then enter a process to be selected as “Wilson County Teacher of the Year.”

Those twenty-seven Wilson County teachers who have been nominated by their peers have recently completed the self-study packets in order to be judged. The criterion for the award was established several years ago and the selection process is completed by an anonymous panel consisting of Cumberland University faculty members.

All twenty-seven nominees will once again be treated to a catered dinner followed by the awards ceremony. The event will be held on the campus of Cumberland University at Baird Chapel.

“We are delighted to honor and praise our area teachers. Each year we are even more impressed with the quality of our educators in Wilson County,” commented W. P. Bone, III, partner Wilson County Automotive.

“Many of the teachers who have been nominated in the past have put great value in the selection process,” according to Bob McDonald, president of CedarStone Bank in Lebanon.

“I have been told numerous stories from teachers who have really enjoyed the nomination process and the completion of the self-study criteria. It gives them a time to reflect on their career and accomplishments,” added McDonald.

Past winners of the award meet with those nominees and go over the criteria processing materials which prove to be a great learning experience for all those involved.
