Since 2006, CedarStone Bank and McGavock High School have teamed up to recognize students who meet and exceed their school responsibilities, and who distinguish themselves as good citizens and students in our community.

Recently CedarStone Bank presented Student of the Month honors to Hannah Richardson (pictured in left photo) and James Phillips (pictured in right photo).

 Recently CedarStone Bank presented “Student of the Month for August 2018” honors to Fontesheia Lewis. The staff of the Donelson Office participated in the presentation.

CedarStone Bank continues its long tradition of supporting McGavock High School by sponsoring the “McGavock Student of the Month”. The student of the month for January is McGavock junior, Takeya Johns. Presenting Takeya with her certificate is the CedarStone Bank Donelson office staff, (from left) Robert L. McDonald, Asst. McGavock High School’s Lucia Del Zotto has been recognized as student of the month for January 2016. Lucia was selected by her teachers and peers for exemplifying the characteristics of a good student and the drive to learn. Lucia attended the Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce luncheon with CedarStone Bank President – CEO Bob McDonald, AVP Robert L. McDonald, and Willie McDonald.

Senior Completes Captstone Experience Program At CedarStone Bank

Recently Justin Duncan, senior at McGavock High School completed over 40 hours with CedarStone Bank in the Capstone Experience program. Justin has been involved in the program at the Donelson Branch since October 2014. A Capstone experience is a project that allows students to learn about themselves by moving an idea or dream toward a topic of interest, specialization, community need, or career choice.

A Great Capstone Experience at CedarStone

Justin Duncan, a senior at McGavock High School, is currently working on his “capstone” experience with the Donelson Branch of CedarStone Bank. Recently, he worked with CedarStone’s Willie McDonald at a financial security facility, learning about procedures and laws relating to bank security. That session was followed up by working with the Donelson Branch staff to put his new knowledge to use.
 
In all, Justin will put in 40 hours of work with CedarStone on his capstone experience and write a paper, as part of his graduation requirements. Read more about Justin and the capstone program at Metro Nashville Public Schools, click here.

All seniors in Metro Nashville public schools  participate in a “capstone” experience. A capstone experience is a project that allows students to learn about themselves by exploring a topic of interest, specialization, community need, or career choice. According to the Tennessee graduation requirements, all students must complete a capstone experience which may include a senior project, virtual enterprise, internship, externship, work-based learning, service learning, and community service.

Justin Duncan, a senior at McGavock High School, has chosen to create his “capstone” experience at CedarStone Bank. He will be spending at least 40 hours with us, documenting his experience in a portfolio of his research, observations, and new skills. Through his English class, Justin will be writing a 2,300-word research paper

CedarStone Bank is the official bank for McGavock High School and enjoys a relationship dating back some 40 years with Donelson banking legend Willie McDonald.
